Background. Estate Planning Strategies, Inc. (EPS), www.epsestateplans.com, provides the tools and support needed that empowers Financial Advisors to directly help their clients implement estate planning objectives.
Business Challenges. For over 10 years EPS had worked with Financial Advisors using various systems, most recently CD-ROM technology, to provide estate planning tools and support for their clients. With ever changing estate planning laws and the desire to continually improve their product offerings EPS struggled to update the CD-ROMs and send them out to clients in a timely manor. Often times even after sending out costly updates EPS would find Financial Advisors using CD-ROMs that were out dated and several versions old.
Another major challenge was training Financial Advisors how to use the complicated CD-ROM system. Advisor retention was always a challenge and the advisors that did continue to use the CD-ROM system required so much support time that growth was limited to the time available to support every advisor through every estate planning case, before it was given to the attorney for completion.
Solution. After several meetings with EPS to better understand how their business operates and their challenges, JVL developed
a dynamic web site that allows Financial Advisors to complete all necessary forms online in an easy to use and understand format. All product recommendations and pricing is done "behind the scenes" so advisors merely enter their clients information and don't have to understand the mechanics of estate planning. Now almost every estate plan done by EPS goes through the system without the need for support until the advisor submits the information for review. An authorized EPS administrator then reviews every order for errors and omissions before sending it to their attorney for completion. This allowed EPS to dramatically increase the number of Financial Advisors and clients they can support and orders they can process with the same number of employees as before. It also allows EPS to spend more time on marketing their business to Financial Advisors instead of answering support calls.
Since the system is now located in only one location, online, all EPS system updates are immediate and there is no need to notify advisors of changes or to send out costly CD-ROM updates. Also it eliminates the possibility of advisors using differnet versions of the system.
